Gilisoft Video Converter can convert multiple video formats. An application like this one will always come in handy as video conversion becomes an increasingly frequent activity.

So many different devices and formats around make it necessary.

The interface is very similar to those of other video converters. As it is a batch converter, you can make a list of all the files you wish to convert. It is sad that the program does not facilitate creating this list by allowing you to add complete folders. However, it makes it easy to set other income parameters, such as selecting an audio channel and a subtitle, which can be done by the dropdown lists next to the file names. Talking about subtitles, the program can actually embed them in the resulting movie. About this, there is a subtitle function that allows you to place them exactly where you want them. It also lets you configure the font color and size.

Additionally, the program includes some quite simple editing functions that allow you to trim the video length, crop the visible area of the frame, add watermarks and rotate the image. Unluckily, the image control features are not as extensive as those available in other similar applications, as this one lets you adjust only brightness, contrast and saturation.

There is also a small preview screen from which you can also take snapshots. When you have finished making the necessary adjustments using the tools just mentioned, you can select a target format. I was really impressed by a huge array of formats this program supports. Selecting the output profile is a two-step process. You start by choosing the type of target device, which will filter the list to show only the supported profiles. This will certainly help you select the output profile in a way that ensures that the converted video will successfully play on the intended device. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to set different conversion parameters for individual items on the list. Finally, you can set an output folder and start converting.

To sum up, Gilisoft Video Converter is a user-friendly converter, which main advantage is that it supports many different formats. The way it can handle subtitles can also make it outstanding among other converters. Unfortunately, the trial version is too limited. Apparently, it was not enough to stamp a watermark on every clip because it converts only the first minute of every clip as well.
